The comparison to Batman's relationship with Catwoman are obvious, but I don't see this as copying, per se. To me, the Apollo strip is kind of like an "Elseworlds" comic, in that it depicts a parallel reality, with many familiar elements, but different historical events, leading to a myriad of different details.
